Education

Unity of Fairfax offers spiritual education for individuals of age groups.

Spiritual Education and Personal Growth

Unity has had a focus on spiritual education since its beginning.  Early in the Unity movement, Myrtle and Charles Fillmore created study groups and centers to share information and support one another in learning, fellowship, and worship.  Today, the Unity Institute provides outstanding higher education as a means to develop ministers and other leaders who live spiritual principles and inspire spiritual transformation in others.  Honoring that tradition, Unity of Fairfax has always supported the transformation of consciousness by offering classes on spiritual education and personal growth.

At Unity of Fairfax we offer a comprehensive Spiritual Education and Personal Growth curriculum. This curriculum is designed to support life-long learning, personal transformation, and conscious growth for all people of ages and at all stages of learning through a continuum of education. We aspire to be a "spiritual lighthouse" for the greater Washington, D.C. metro area.

Education is the process of discovering the knowledge your soul already knows.

We need your ideas!  We are always interested in what classes you would like to see presented at Unity of Fairfax!  If you have an idea for a class, please make a recommendation by contacting us at webmaster@unityoffairfax.org

Licensed Unity Teachers

The teaching tradition of Unity carries on today through the training and licensing of our Teachers.Licensed Unity Teachers (LUTs) are the cornerstone of any successful and comprehensive education program.  LUTs serve their churches in a variety of teaching and pastoral care roles.  The primary purpose of the LUT Program is for students to deepen their own spiritual journeys.  The program usually takes 2-5 years to complete, depending upon the pace the student chooses to follow.  The program includes accredited Spiritual Education and Enrichment (SEE) courses (held locally or available online), a practicum prior to licensing, and attendance at educational intensives at Unity Village.

A LUT may be licensed in one of four focus areas:  Adult Education, Administration, Pastoral Care, or Youth and Family Ministry.  They may serve their ministries in various capacities.  A LUT may teach classes, serve Communion, or officiate at christenings, weddings and funerals.
