Join our Adventures in Learning Classes

At the heart of Shepherd’s Center (SC) is the desire to continue learning and growing. Our Adventures in Learning (AIL) classes supports personal growth and discovery with college-type courses, cultural enrichment workshops, hobby and recreational opportunities.

Subjects cover a wide range of topics: computer and technology, finance, literature, music and art appreciation, politics, “how-to,” world religion, current events, historical events and figures, foreign languages, hobbies, and so much more. Participants share a common enthusiasm for lifelong learning and the outstanding courses and camaraderie keeps them coming back.

We didn’t want to cancel another thing, so we decided to offer something new, fun and exciting to do while keeping you connected to your friends. We will be sending our Spring 2020 Adventures in Learning (AIL) classes to you virtually via ZOOM! Three different classes each week starting, Thursday, April 23rd and they run consecutively for 8 weeks. Each day of classes are at 10 am, 11:00 am and 1:00 pm.

View our lineup of the exciting Spring AIL 2020 semester classes here.

If you haven’t tried ZOOM before, we promise it’s easy! You’ll be able to see your friends on screen while learning something new.

SAVE THE DATE

To be sure everything works like clockwork; we are offering this free ZOOM learning class before the semester starts on April 23rd.

  • Learning Zoom session: - April 21 at 10:00 am -10-30 am. Email Mike Mulreany, AIL Chair, at mulreany@verizon.net by Monday, April 20th if you want to participate in this learning session.

We need your help! Due to COVID-19, all of our scheduled fundraising/social events in April, May and June are cancelled. Therefore, we need your support by asking that you pay our usual $45.00 per semester fee. A portion of that fee will be used to purchase food gift cards for our seniors who are unable to get to the grocery store.

To further address the changing needs of our seniors due to COVID-19, SC has added a new service - free delivery or shopping/delivery of essential food, medicine and household goods to those who need it the most.

We have also expanded our Friendly Caller program to stave off isolation, loneliness and depression for our home-bound neighbors with additional volunteers in the community who want to help keep in touch.

Hurry and sign up! The deadline for receipt of your payment for AIL is Tuesday, April 21. Call the office hotline at 703.281.0601 to pay with your credit card or send your check to the SC office at 541 Marshall Rd. SW, Vienna, VA 22180.

Thank you for your kindness.

See you on ZOOM,
