No-Contact Food Drive
To Help Restock Local Area Food Pantries
This project is conducted in partnership with “A Simple Gesture”
Our church community is holding a food drive to collect urgently needed non-perishable grocery items. The food drive will serve the needy and hungry of our community by helping to restock 2 local area food pantries:
South Lakes High School Food Pantry
Where nearly 30% of the student population depends on the Federal Free and Reduced Price Lunch Programs; and
Link Against Hunger Food Pantry
Serving Herndon and surrounding communities
Most needed items
- CANNED GOODS: Beans, Tuna, Salmon, Vegetables, Soup, Chicken, Chili, Juices, Tomato, Sauces, Fruit
- JARS: Cooking Oil, Peanut Butter, Jelly
- BOXED/DRY GOODS: Cereal, Oatmeal, Beans, Lentils, Macaroni & Cheese, Pasta
- BAGS: Rice, Flour, Sugar
- PERSONAL HYGIENE: Soap, Toothpaste, Toilet Paper, Toiletries, Feminine Products
We are requesting and encouraging donation of at least one full grocery bag if at all possible. But know that any amount will be greatly appreciated!
Please be aware that we will be following all recomended COVID Safety Practices during this service project.
NOTE: If you would like to contribute but prefer to donate money, please send the funds directly to Unity of Fairfax with the memo: “December Food Drive”. Your donation will be used to purchase additional needed grocery items.
Volunteer positions needed
Several volunteers are needed on the day of the Food Drive!
Specifically, we need Sorters and Drivers to pick up from homes of individuals who want to donate, but may be unable or uncomfortable to deliver the groceries to the church themselves.
It’s going to be a fun event for all!
The need in our own community is great, and we are counting on a everyone to do what’s in their heart to help.
Thank you for your love, prayers, encouragement, and participation.
