Nonviolent Communication is based on the principles of nonviolence—the natural state of compassion when no violence is present in the heart.
Nonviolent Communication is also known as NVC or Compassionate Communication.
NVC begins by assuming that people are compassionate by nature and that violent strategies—whether verbal or physical—are learned behaviors taught and supported by the prevailing culture. These behaviors, however, are often ineffective strategies to meet one’s needs or values.
- In this class, you will learn a technique for connecting and communicating heart-to-heart with others, and deepen your understanding of yourself.
- Unity Spiritual Education and Enrichment Elective Credit will be available for those seeking it.
- There is a suggested love offering of $15/per class; however, no one will be turned away on account of ability to pay.
More information about NVC can be found at: cnvc.org
The textbook Nonviolent Communication and accompanying workbook are available in the Unity of Fairfax bookstore.
Both are required for class participants.
