We are providing dinner for about 45 people who are experiencing homelessness at the Facets Hypothermia Prevention Program shelter operating at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Fairfax, located at 2709 Hunter Mill Road in Oakton. In addition to the meal, we need volunteers for other duties at the shelter from Feb. 10 to 17, and that signup is located at the UUCF website, with the link below.
We need volunteers to provide the food for meal, and a few to help prepare last minute items at Unity of Fairfax and serve it at UUCF. We will be serving hearty soups, grilled cheese sandwiches, and a baked potato bar.
Sign up to help provide the meal.
All food needs to be dropped off at Unity of Fairfax on Saturday, February 16 between 2 and 4:30 p.m. If you are bringing an item that is not hot, you can drop it off earlier in the week to Rebecca Whitecotton in the church office (which is open M–Th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.). Please email her at email@example.com to make arrangements to drop it off.
UUCF is a NO NUT facility, so we need to make sure nothing contains nuts.
QUESTIONS? Email Laurie Warhol, firstname.lastname@example.org, or Rebecca Whitecotton, email@example.com.
Please also consider volunteering for other opportunities at the shelter — driving or co-piloting a van to get guests to the shelter, serving breakfast, evening shifts, or volunteering overnight. To sign up for those volunteer needs please visit the UUCF website.
