Rev. Donna's Mid-Week Message
May 7, 2008

It may be spring fever, but I am on a roll getting things done around my house. It truly feels good to check things off my list that have been there for years. As I renew my environment, it in turn, renews me. The same is true of consciousness. I can procrastinate starting a new prayer routine, reading a book I’ve heard about, or taking advantage of opportunities that further my progress. If I procrastinate long enough, my subconscious fails to take any of these intentions seriously and my mind becomes even more entrenched in its habitual way of doing things.

Procrastination is a silent thief. On the surface, it tells us if we put off today what we can always do tomorrow, we’ll have more freedom today. Of course, the burden of unfulfilled intentions weighs heavily after a while. Then our self esteem suffers and we begin to feel overwhelmed. At this point, even the simplest of tasks can seem difficult, and we lose sight of the joy that comes with accomplishment.

The answer? Positive action. We cannot think our way out of procrastination; we must “do” our way out. So, as the warm sunshine now calls us into the light of day to our gardens, to walks in the woods, to the beach or to the mountains, let the sunshine of our souls call us to new growth and progress in our consciousness and in our lives. Take advantage of the upward momentum that spring always offers and ride it in every direction. It’s a fever that will make you healthy and happy.

Blessings,
Rev. Donna
