Education

B.B.A. Accounting & Psychology with a concentration in Marketing, The College of William and Mary, 2013.

Experience

As a business student, I had the opportunity to collaborate on several long-term, cross-subject projects.

During my first semester, I worked with a team to create a new product line marketing plan for Netflix, Inc. This project encompassed the entire marketing process from extensive background market research (4Cs, SWOT) to forming the marketing mix (the 4Ps) and ending with implementation and future development.

In 2012, I consulted with the National Museum of the U.S. Navy to help them address funding, outreach, and promotional challenges with a heavy emphasis on social media. My team and I designed a strategic marketing campaign to increase public interest and brand recognition, identify their target market and cater to specific wants, and raise relocation funds by proposing a fundraising gala. This plan received favorable responses from museum executives during its presentation at the Raymond A. Mason School of Business.

In addition to my background in business, I have a deep passion for science and social causes.

As a psychology major, I performed an independent research project studying the correlations between stress, perception of high expectations, and affinity for academic achievement. This project was inspired by Barry Schwartz’s The Paradox of Choice, in which he notes the phenomenon that teenagers are feeling an increasing pressure to not only meet expectations but to exceed them. In my study, I analyzed self-report data to see if any correlations existed between stress, high expectations, and academic achievement. Later, I took my research a step further and analyzed relationships between the expression of adaptive versus maladaptive perfectionism, parenting style, and the moderating effect of social connectedness. What type of parenting style can affect the expression of adaptive perfectionism? If the wrong parenting style is used, will social connectedness mitigate its effects?

Outside of my academic studies, I was an active member of the William and Mary community. As President/Captain of the women’s club volleyball team, I organized two Dig Pink fundraising events to raise money for breast cancer research.

Additionally, I co-wrote and directed the annual fall production for the Chinese Student Organization.

In November 2011, I ran my first (and hopefully not my last) marathon in Richmond, Virginia.

That following January, I participated in a service-learning project to Costa Rica in order to learn about the co-op, El Silencio, repaint their school, and donate school supplies to the children.

Recently, I spent a year in Seoul, South Korea teaching English as a foreign language solely from tablet devices.

I am excited to contribute my skills and experience to Unity of Fairfax!
