I am originally from North Carolina, and grew up in a very traditional Christian home. Always believing in God, but having an issue with traditional Christian religions, I was on a quest to find a church that met my spiritual needs. About 5 years ago I found Unity of Fairfax and finally discovered my spiritual home. I find the teachings uplifting, useful and empowering. I began my involvement at Unity of Fairfax by volunteering for
Our Daily Bread, participated in the Aids walk team, Vision Quest, the Building Evaluation Committee for Phase II, and now serve on the Unity's Board of Trustees as the Chairman. Professionally I have spent my career in public service, retiring in 2006 from had an extensive career with Fairfax County Park Authority. Currently my professional passion is philanthropic work for the Claude Moore Charitable Foundation and operating a small consulting firm specializing in strategic planning, target marketing and organizational development. Over the years I have developed some leadership skills that I hope will beneficial to the board and the church at large.

Unity of Fairfax, what first caught my eye first was your contemporary architecture, set on a hill, filled with light, and surrounded by beauty. So I guess the attraction was at first purely physical. But not for long. In 2002, as I began to attend services, I quickly learned that the philosophy of Unity, as well as the people, programs and music of Unity of Fairfax, embodied the things, thoughts and spirit of where I wanted to be. And of course New Day has enabled me to express a form of love and spirituality through music. I am currently an independent consulting to U.S. Customs and Border Protection and am responsible for outreach to the international trade community. While I am on the board of trustees I envision applying Unity principles to the areas of communications and outreach locally, nationally and internationally.

I am deeply grateful for my spiritual home at Unity of Fairfax. When I feel lost, fearful or chaotic, Unity teachings are there to show me the path. I am especially grateful for the open-mindedness I have seen demonstrated over and over again. I have learned what it means to be accepting of people from role models within Unity of Fairfax.
Well, I'm young and ambitious. Remember those days? Indeed I believe we can make a difference in the world, however Im old enough to appreciate the importance of a strategic plan. Contrary to my nature, I tend to be well organized and can convert ideas into action plans. Our church has grown to its capacity with the current infrastructure. As we envision what will be, I feel honored to be a part of the growth we are about to experience. (note: growth isn’t always more people)

I joined Unity of Fairfax about 6 years ago. I have attended Unity churches in this area for about 15 years. I really was impressed by Unity of Fairfax and decided that I wanted it to be my church home. I enrolled in the 4T program and upon completion became an active voting member. Since becoming a member I have consistently tithed 10% of my time talent and treasure to Unity of Fairfax. I truly want to make a loving difference in the world and I work hard to make this church work for all. While I have given to Unity of Fairfax, I have received much more in return. This church is my spiritual home.

I joined Unity of Fairfax when I moved to Northern Virginia in 1984. Prior to that, I was a member of Unity of South Dade in Miami, Florida since 1973. Throughout the 36 years that I have been a member of Unity I have taught Sunday School for all ages, including Uniteens,as well as a YOU sponsor. I have been on the worship team, a platform assistant,Building Expansion Evaluation Committee, and for the last
four years a member of the Board of Trustees for U of F.As a Board member I bring to the Board a life time of being involved in Unity principals and beliefs. I am very much interested in the Youth of Unity and am an advocate for the best in spiritual education for our children.
Professionally I have been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker for 35 years. My experience as a psychotherapist helps me greatly as the Board representative for The Lay Leadership Council. I have worked with individuals, couples, groups, children and adolescents. For many years I have offered women's and couples retreats and workshops. I also was the owner and President of a wellness center in Reston for 9 years. I have managed up to 25 employees during that time. This experience helped me greatly in how to manage a business as well as the staff.

I first attended a service at Unity of Fairfax in early 2001 in what is now the Mildred Park Center. I came in and sat at the back. Five minutes into Reverend Donna's talk I knew I'd found my spiritual home.
I bring to the board a deep desire to give back to a community that has given me so very much, many years of management experience, and the reminder that laughing refreshes and renews our spirit.

I am a retired teacher from the Fairfax County Public School System. In my 33 years of teaching, I’ve taught kindergarten through sixth grade. When I was introduced to Unity principles 27 years ago in Newton, MA, I didn’t know I was on a spiritual path, but I was. I was so captivated by this new way of looking at my relationship to God and my fellowman, that I devoured everything related to the subject, and started attending Unity of Brookline. In 1984, soon after moving to Virginia, I joined Unity of Fairfax. I teach Sunday School, serve on the Worship Team, and also on the Welcome Team. As we travel on this amazing spiritual journey together, my vision and hope for UOF is that the words and deeds of each of us reflect the mission and vision of our church and the Christ Consciousness; thereby inspiring others to desire and become a part of this great ministry. Another part of my vision is for each of us to develop a deeper faith in our divinity---to know, without a doubt, that we are one with a mighty power, God, and with this mighty invisible and invincible power, all things are possible, if we believe and if we do the work.
